Visit to Safe Patient Systems by Lord Hunt

To launch the Department of Health policy document on Auto-identification in the Health Service, “Coding for Success”, Minister of State for Quality at the Department of Health, Lord Hunt visited the Birmingham Heartlands Hospital to see the Safe Surgery System in action in the ENT Day Surgery Unit and also the Safe Major Incident Management System™ demonstrated at the company’s offices. Both system use RFID technology to identify and track patients. The visit was well covered by both the local and national media including film coverage on BBC National TV News and Sky TV News, and interviews on the Today programme on BBC Radio 4, BRMB News and BBC Radio 5 Live Drive programme.
