NPSA Launch 'Never Events' policy

Safe Patient Systems welcome the launch of a 'Never Events' policy for the NHS in England. 'Never Events' are serious patient safety incidents that should not occur if preventative measures have been put in place. The Number 1 'Never Event' is Wrong site surgery and Trusts will be encouraged to implement preventative measures during 2009/10. The Safe Surgery System can be one such measure as it is specifically designed to prevent Wrong Site Surgery.
