  • Colin Cobain

    Colin Cobain

    Colin Cobain, former CIO of Tesco PLC is the Non-Executive Chairman. Colin has over 30 years of experience in creating and delivering successful strategies which apply technology to deliver commercial benefit on a global stage. In his last role at Tesco, he step changed the in-store operations of Tesco through the introduction of RFID and mobile computing technology. In September 2007 he was voted CIO of the Year at the fifth annual CNET Networks UK Business Technology awards. Colin has also served on the management boards of Superdrug, where he set up a wholesaling export business, and Woolworths, where he launched a national interactive digital TV store. He also set up his own dotcom before joining Tesco in 2001.

  • David Morgan FRCS

    David Morgan FRCS

    David Morgan BSc, MB ChB, FRCS, FRCS Otol. is a Consultant Otolaryngologist and Clinical Director of ENT Services at Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust as well as an Associate Professor at the Clinical Research Institute at the University of Warwick. He qualified at Birmingham Medical School in 1981 and undertook surgical training in London, Boston, Sydney, Hong Kong and Bombay. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Birmingham and Warwick Medical School and was the Surgical Specialty Advisor to the National Patient Safety Agency (2000-2006). In 1999 he co-founded Medicdirect Ltd, a health information website.

    In 2005 he founded Safe Patient Systems Ltd following a 10 year privately funded research programme into the medical applications of expert computer systems. He is also a main board member of Medilink - West Midlands and on the AIM Healthcare Special Interest Group.

    Mark Doorbar

    Mark joined Safe Patient Systems in April, 2008. In his role, Mark brings over 20 years of experience in business strategy, execution and leadership gained with some of the best known international consumer goods and technology brands in the world.

    Prior to joining Safe Patient Systems, Mark was Snr. Marketing Director, EMEA for Palm Mobile Computing, where he defined Palm's marketing strategy and revised its organisational structure to the successfully develop and launch new products in partnership with Microsoft and Vodafone.

    Mark's career started at Cadbury Schweppes where he worked in sales and marketing before moving to work for a number of major FMCG organizations, including Pepsi International, Allied Domecq, Bulmers, Sendo International and Rank Hovis McDougall in senior marketing and general management roles.

    His commercial experience in developing Companies and brands through focused strategy and clear differentiation in highly competitive markets is a core skill and one that he is successfully applying to Safe Patient Systems.

  • Ronan Treacy

    Ronan Treacy

    Ronan Treacy is a Non-Executive Director of Safe Patient Systems. He joined the Birmingham Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in 1994, where he is now a consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon.

    Ronan has a world-wide reputation as a pioneering hip surgeon and is a co-inventor of the ‘Birmingham Hip Resurfacing’ technique. He has performed 4000 of these procedures - the most in the world to date, and still performs around 450 Hip Resurfacings per year, in addition to other hip surgery.
